Last year when the war between Russia and Ukraine pushed prices sky high many businesses began to struggle with the high cost of energy. At the peak of the energy crisis, electricity peaked at over 70p/kWh which caused energy bills many people were unable to cope with.
Whilst energy prices have decreased this year, we are not completely out of the global energy crisis. The energy market is still extremely volatile. With the war in Israel also currently affecting energy prices it is possible that next year we could see prices start to reach higher levels again due to the strain on the energy market.

What is free solar?
We know the term “free solar” might ring alarm bells to many people or seem too good to be true but it's not. We offer a solar power purchase agreement (PPA) which allows you to get solar panels installed on your business for free. You then buy the energy your solar panels make to power your business.
With this agreement the price will you pay for electricity from the solar will be a lot lower than it would be if you were paying for electricity from the grid. At the end of the contract, you will then be gifted the solar panel system, along with the option to buy it earlier.
This agreement is not only a good way for your business to save money but also allows your business to become more sustainable and manage your carbon emissions.
How much free solar would have saved your business
Since energy prices rose last year, we have managed to help customers reduce their electricity costs using our free solar. However, the cost savings could have been tripled if they had been on the PPA scheme at the height of the energy crisis.
For example, if a business signed their energy contract last October, they would have paid around 61p/kWh. With our free solar, they would have saved up to £18,821 on their energy bills from October 2022 to August 2023. See the graph below for a representation of this cost savings.
Prices rising again
As we mentioned before energy prices in the UK are at risk of spiking again. This is due to the conflict currently going on in the Middle East which affects the global wholesale energy market.
